For my lidded project I made a 7in x 3in incense holder on a vase. I used mixer clay and dark cobalt glaze. I made a rounded and flat form to add contrast. This project is important because I learned how to made a new type of lid.

For my group coil project we made a pencil holder. We used red clay and mixer clay for a contrast in color. We glazed between the coils black to add color and emphasize the shape and flow the coils. We then glazed the rest in clear glaze. I'm very happy with the results and liked sharing ideas and hearing my group's ideas for the project because they had very interesting ideas.
For my mug project I made a regular 4in x 3in mug with red clay. I tested new (well...new to me) ways to pull a handle. I glazed the inside brown and the outside black but it came out a metallic purple. This project is important because it was a new experience, working with red clay on the wheel and glazing. Overall I'm happy with the result and want to test other colors like yellow on similar projects because I really like how different the glaze looks on red clay.
For my second bowl project I made a 6in x 4 in bowl. I made this bowl for eating cereal and larger portions of food than my first bowl. I glazed the bottom of the exterior speckled ivory and the upper exterior with a blue scrap glaze. I put a layer of white glaze on top to soften both colors and make the ivory thicker. I'm very happy with the overall look and would like to make more projects with blues and yellows.
For my vase project I made a small 5in x 3in round vase. I wanted to practice closing in the top and making more narrow shapes. I glazed the bottom half of the vase in black and the upper half in blue with a white top layer for a transition of color. I'm very happy with the outcome and want to make a similar vase but with negative space in the middle.
For my first bowl project I made a small soup bowl with a saucer. I wanted to keep the look of the two pieces simple and natural. The clear glaze and lack of color on the body of the bowl draws the eyes of viewers to the dripping glaze. I wanted the movement of the green glaze to be soothing. The different consistencies in the clear and green glaze creates a melting like texture that is smooth and tempting to touch. The saucer has similar characteristics; a clear coating with a green interior. The green glaze on the saucer looks like a reflection of the bowl and creates a light shadow. This project is important because it shows elements of nature (as it was made to mimic moss) with a modern minimalist contrast.
